Antonio Eduardo Miller Crotti was born in Ituverava, SP, Brazil, and studied Chemistry at the University of Franca. In 2001 and 2005, respectively, he finished his MsC and PhD studies under the supervision of Prof. João Luis Callegari Lopes at the University of São Paulo.  His MSc and PhD projects focused on the isolation and structural elucidation of Natural Products from plants and mass spectrometry, respectively.

In March 2005, just after he got his Ph.D. degree, Prof Miller began his collaboration with the Research Group on Natural Products of University of the Franca (GPNUF). First, he developed his research in the field of Chemistry of Natural Products , in collaboration with Prof. Wilson Cunha and Prof. Carlos Martins. In these projects, he was interested in the bioguided-assay isolation and identification of bioactive compounds from plant extracts with antimicrobial activity.

Next, from 2008 to 2012 he coordinated an environmentally friendly research project that dealt with anti-parasitic, antimicrobial and insecticidal activities of plant-derived essential oils, which was developed in partnership with Prof. Lizandra Magalhães, Prof. Carlos Martins, Prof. Edson Baldin and Prof. Denise Tavares. During this period, there were a dozen of MSc and undergraduate students (scientific initiation) and one Ph.D. student under his supervision.

In 2011, he engaged in one-year post-doctoral fellowship in Organic Synthesis at the Department of Chemistry of the University of São Paulo (FFCLRP-USP), under the supervision of Prof. Paulo Donate.

In 2013, Prof. Miller relocated his group to the University of São Paulo, Brazil, where he started to work as Professor of Organic Chemistry within the Department of Chemistry, and as a member of the Laboratory of Organic Synthesis (LOS). He works with Prof. Gil Valdo da Silva, Prof. Paulo Donate, and Prof. Luiz Moraes.

From July 2018 to June 2019, prof. Miller was a visiting professor at the University of Victoria, BC, Canada for a sabbatical year under the supervision of prof. J. Scott McIndoe

In November 2020, prof. Miller was promoted to Associate Professor at the University of São Paulo.

Currently, his research focuses on biologically active synthetic and natural products and on the application of mass spectrometry in the structural elucidation of organic compounds, gas-phase fragmentation reactions, and investigation of reaction mechanisms.
